Dunedin councillor Benedict Ong suspended from committees until July 2027 after third code breach

The Dunedin City Council has accepted findings that councillor Benedict Ong breached its code of conduct for a third time. He is suspended from all committees and subcommittees until July 2027. A June complaint by deputy mayor Cherry Lucas alleged he publicly posted confidential information and criticised the chief executive on social media. Ong has called the complaints malicious.
