Two museums challenge new California and U.S. laws on Nazi-looted art claims
The Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection Foundation in Madrid and the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, California, are challenging new California and U.S. federal laws on Nazi-looted art claims, The Art Newspaper reported on 28 October 2026. Both have won the claims the laws could reopen. The foundation argues the California law violates the U.S. Constitution by retroactively denying vested property rights.
