Third Land director says he was detained two or three times while filming in Turkey

Farzad Khoshdast said he was detained two or three times while filming Third Land in Turkey, Variety reported on 27 October 2026. Gaining the trust of engineer Hamid's family took around two years over three separate periods, he said. Filming took place in Ankara, Alanya and an industrial town near Istanbul. The documentary premiered at the Ji.hlava Documentary Film Festival in the Czech Republic.
