Le Pen's Ban Shortened, Now Clear to Run in 2027
An appeals court reduced Marine Le Pen's ban from public office from five years to 45 months, with 15 months counted from March 2025. The adjustment clears the Rassemblement National leader to compete in France's 2027 presidential election. She announced her candidacy July 7. A higher court could still intervene, but her campaign proceeds unobstructed while legal proceedings continue.
