River Guide Sets Pacific Solo-Rowing Record, Halves Previous Time
Kelsey Pfendler, 32, rowed solo from Monterey to Honolulu in 44 days—half the previous record. She departed May 21 and finished July 3, surpassing both the women's mark (86 days) and men's (52 days). The Colorado River guide became the first American woman to complete the crossing, a feat verified by Ocean Rowing Society International and Guinness World Records.
