Ukraine's U.S. Robotic Vehicles: Useful, But Not Yet Truly Autonomous
Forterra's 100-plus Lancer vehicles have completed 1,100 missions in Ukraine since October 2025, covering 2,500 miles and evacuating 52 casualties. Ukrainian operators drive them remotely rather than letting them run on autopilot—the vehicles are too valuable to risk, and the autonomous system isn't ready for combat. It proves remote-controlled logistics work. True autonomous combat remains unproven.
