Class Prejudice Enabled Medomsley Abuse, UK Minister Says

A government minister has attributed the decades-long cover-up of abuse at Medomsley Detention Centre to class prejudice. Working-class boys held in County Durham from 1961 to 1987 were viewed as undeserving of protection, allowing officer Neville Husband to abuse over 2,000 detainees. The government is implementing 34 safeguarding recommendations, including mandatory abuse reporting by professionals.
