Delhi Police Ends Jantar Mantar's Role as Official Protest Site

Delhi Police announced on October 12 that Jantar Mantar in central Delhi will no longer be an approved protest site. The 18th-century observatory, about 3km from Parliament House, hosted demonstrations since 1993 after protests were stopped at Boat Club lawns. Police said it acted after the Supreme Court suggested finding alternative sites.
