Eight states sue OpenAI over ChatGPT child safety claims
Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, West Virginia, Arkansas, Arizona, Idaho and Montana filed separate suits claiming ChatGPT harms children and misleads customers on safety. They allege profit over safety, consumer-protection violations, data collection from minors and weak age gating, or age checks. They seek penalties, injunctions, or court-ordered fixes, and data deletion. OpenAI says its age-specific protections lead the industry.
