Lorre says CBS wanted fat suit for 'Mike & Molly' lead instead of Melissa McCarthy

CBS opposed casting Melissa McCarthy as Molly Flynn in Mike & Molly, Chuck Lorre writes in memoir Sitcom. Lorre says one female executive suggested hiring a more attractive actress in a fat suit. Lorre says casting director Nikki Valko brought in McCarthy, last cast opposite Billy Gardell. Series ran six seasons from 2010, Deadline reported.
