Eight Shot at Coney Island July 4 Celebration, Including Four Children

A shooter opened fire on West 31st Street in Brooklyn just after 10:30 p.m. on July 4, minutes after the scheduled fireworks ended. Four children—ages 6, 7, 12, and 14—were among eight people hit. Four adults were also shot. Seven victims remain stable; one 21-year-old woman is in critical condition. Police recovered a firearm but have made no arrests.
