AFCON set to return to two-year cycle

Africa Cup of Nations is set to return to every two years. CAF president Patrice Motsepe signalled the U-turn in Cape Verde, with confirmation expected at the executive meeting in Abidjan in November 2026. It reverses the December 2025 plan for a four-year cycle after 2027 and 2028. Biennial means every two years.
