UK Tipping Law Tested on What Counts as Fair
A London casino waiter's tribunal complaint could define how strictly employers must distribute tips fairly. The law passed in October 2024 requires 100% of service charges and card tips go to workers but offers no fixed formula for allocation. The claimant earned only £97 in service charges over 120 hours while management took equal cuts. Courts will now decide what "fair" actually means.
