Social Security 2027 COLA Forecast at 3.6%

AARP forecasts a 3.6% Social Security cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for 2027 — about $75 extra a month for the average retired worker. A COLA lifts payments to keep pace with inflation, or rising prices. This is only a forecast. The Social Security Administration will announce the official rate in October 2026.
