Former Port Vale and Gillingham captain Doug Loft dies aged 39

Former Port Vale and Gillingham captain Doug Loft has died aged 39. Port Vale said he suffered a medical emergency at the weekend. The midfielder made 196 appearances for Vale and led them to promotion from League Two as captain, then captained Gillingham. He leaves wife Laura and daughters Freya and Amelie.
