Pharrell Williams seeks dismissal of Chad Hugo copyright lawsuit

Pharrell Williams has asked the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California to dismiss Chad Hugo's copyright lawsuit, arguing Hugo's second amended complaint is vague about the copyrights at issue. Rolling Stone reported on 7 October 2026 that the filing says the state-law claims belong in state court without a viable federal claim.
