Rubio Presses Russia Over Lab Death

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Oct. 6, 2026, Russia should share more about the death of 28-year-old Darya Shipilova of the Irkutsk Anti-plague Institute from suspected pneumonic plague, the severe lung form. Russia told the WHO, the U.N. health agency, no plague cases were found in Irkutsk. Openness will affect outside trust.
