Ex-negotiator: Israel-Hamas hostage deal was possible a year earlier

Retired Maj. Gen. Nitzan Alon, the army's former hostage-negotiations chief, says the October 2025 deal with Hamas which freed 20 Israeli captives in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinians could have been reached about a year earlier without hurting Israel's other war aims. He spoke on a Washington Institute webcast marking three years since the Oct. 7, 2023 attack.
