Dutch Afsluitdijk completes eight-year upgrade for 1-in-10,000-year storm

The Netherlands' 32-kilometre Afsluitdijk has completed an eight-year overhaul, Benthem Crouwel says. The 1927-1932 dam separating the IJsselmeer from the Wadden Sea was raised two metres and armoured with 75,000 Levvel-blocs. The studio states it can now withstand a one-in-10,000-year storm and meet current safety standards amid rising seas.
