Labor's Greens-backed ban on self-managed super funds borrowing to buy apartments will dry up a major funding source: developers reckon SMSFs drive 30 per cent of apartment demand in some markets. The policy package tries to boost housing supply while shutting down a $28.9 billion lending mechanism that's kept apartment pre-sales alive. The numbers don't add up.
