Fewer than 60 Māui dolphins left as fishing restrictions deemed insufficient

Fewer than 60 Māui dolphins remain, according to current estimates. Conservation groups say the set-net and trawl restrictions under the Fisheries Act are too narrow to prevent the subspecies' extinction.
