30-year Treasury yield tops 5.6%

5.6% is now the annual return demanded to lend to the U.S. government for 30 years. The rate crossed that level Sept. 29, 2026 and sits near multi-decade highs, CNBC and Reuters reported. In my view, that means pricier mortgages and business loans, and harder math for stocks priced on future profits.
