Marlene Emilie Lyngstad told Variety her feature debut Cute is never explicit. She told Variety it explores guilt of living with unwanted attraction without acting on it, not abuse, and described it as a love story of two broken adults seeking unconditional love. It will have its world premiere in New Directors at San Sebastián, according to TrustNordisk.
