England beat Spain 5-1 to win the Transplant Football World Cup in Frankfurt in September 2026. Martyn Jackson scored, less than two years after donor heart surgery at Wythenshawe Hospital on 28 November 2024 saved his life. The 31-year-old had played ninth-tier football for Ramsbottom United days before falling ill with myocarditis, inflammation of the heart muscle.
