Met in New York returns five looted Cretan armour pieces to Greece

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York said on 21 September 2026 it had returned five looted Archaic Cretan bronze armour pieces to Greece. The museum, in its press statement, said provenance, the documented chain of ownership, research showed they came from the sanctuary at Afrati. Ownership now rests with Greece.
