Premier League on pace for second highest-scoring season at 2.82 goals per game

Premier League goals are up from 2.75 last season to 2.82 in the opening weeks of 2026-27, The Guardian reported on 21 September. Scoring usually rises later. In four of the past five seasons it jumped by at least 0.21 per game after the first 50 matches. A repeat would make this the second highest-scoring season.
