Atletico Madrid beat 10-man Real Madrid 2-1 in the Madrid derby on 20 September. Dean Huijsen was sent off early in the second half, and Atletico were awarded a penalty. Jonathan David earned the win for Atletico against ten men. It was Jose Mourinho's first derby back.
