Activision puts video-game cheating market at $8.5 billion a year
Activision claims cheating in video games generates about £6.3 billion ($8.5 billion) a year. Team Ricochet, its Call of Duty anti-cheat unit, said the total covers account sales, boosting — paying to raise ranks — and spoofing — faking identity data. It said cheat subscriptions across 15 games alone generate about £2.6 billion ($3.5 billion).
