Cuba's Electrical Grid in Freefall: Four Collapses Since October

Cuba's power system has completely shut down four times since October 2024, leaving 11 million people without electricity for 18–24 hours daily. Fuel shortages—driven partly by U.S. pressure on Venezuelan suppliers—have crippled aging thermal plants. Despite three years of government stabilization efforts, solar installations are now filling gaps, but without battery storage or baseload power, they cannot replace what the centralized grid provided.
