Stronger Parenting Orders Could Punish Parents for Children's Offences

Parents in England and Wales could face benefit cuts, fines or, in rare cases, jail if their children commit crimes, youth justice minister Jake Richards said. The strengthened parenting orders — court requirements that can include counselling — would mix support and punishment. Judges would decide penalties. The orders exist now but are rarely used.
