UK Records Its Hottest Summer at 16.5°C

Summer 2026 was provisionally Britain's hottest on record, averaging 16.5°C, the Met Office said. England and Wales each broke their own summer heat records. It is the second record summer in a row, with August delivering the fifth-hottest day ever measured. July was England and Wales's driest on record, worsening drought conditions.
