HBO has given The Spread a straight-to-series order, meaning no pilot is shot first, Deadline reported on 18 September 2026. Javier Bardem headlines and executive produces the drama. Written by Bill Dubuque and Sean Sansiveri, it hails from Dubuque, Sansiveri and Fifth Season. HBO will co-produce with Fifth Season.
