Arson Conviction Stops Short of Intent—Verdict Cuts Maximum Sentence in Half

Roman Lavrynovych, 22, a Ukrainian national, was convicted of recklessly endangering life in arson attacks on properties linked to PM Keir Starmer in north London on 11–12 May 2025. The jury acquitted him of the graver charge: intent to endanger life. Under English law, intent-based arson carries a maximum life sentence; reckless endangerment does not.
