New tilcayo tiger cat found in Bolivia, first in over 100 years

Scientists have identified Leopardus tilcayo, the tilcayo tiger cat, in Bolivia's Yungas cloud forest. The discovery was disclosed in Current Biology. It is the first new cat species described in more than 100 years. The small spotted cat has light brown fur with rosettes and round ears. Local communities called it tilcayo for generations.
