Gore: AI Data Center Emissions Are Small Compared With Landfills

Al Gore told TechCrunch in an interview published September 16, 2026 that emissions from AI data centers, the large facilities that run AI, should not keep people up at night. All of them combined produce only a fraction of the emissions from uncovered landfills worldwide, he said, placing computing-related carbon within a larger set of unmanaged sources.
