U.S. confirms on-orbit weapons for space control

The United States has deployed weapons in orbit designed for space control — meaning to protect U.S. satellites or disrupt rivals', Air Force Secretary Troy Meink said at the Air, Space and Cyber Conference outside Washington. Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun urged Washington to halt military buildup in space. Questions will follow on peaceful-use rules.
