Syria Scraps Assad-Era Counter-Terrorism Court

Syria's parliament voted to abolish the Counter-Terrorism Court, created in 2012 under Bashar al-Assad, and to cancel the legal force of its rulings. The court tried thousands on terrorism charges. The decision locks in changes since Assad's fall in December 2024, including removing 67 judges. Compensation and retrials are still unresolved.
