Madonna to open 2026 VMAs for record fifth time

Madonna will open the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 27, Billboard confirmed on Sept. 16. It will be her fifth opening, after 1989, 1993, 1998 and 2003, moving her clear of Rihanna. Snoop Dogg will host. The show will air on CBS, simulcast on MTV and streaming on Paramount+ Premium.
