Resident Evil director filmed while ill with pneumonia and gut infection

Zach Cregger directed Resident Evil while seriously ill throughout the shoot in the north of the Czech Republic. Cregger said he had pneumonia during the first half of filming and Campylobacter jejuni, a bacterial gut infection, during the second. He said his body was failing him and production felt barely in control.
