Sunderland host AZ in first European tie for over 50 years

Sunderland host Dutch club AZ at the Stadium of Light on 16 September 2026. Kick-off is 20:00. It is only their fifth European tie, and first since 1973-74, when they met Vasas and Sporting. They qualified by finishing seventh in the Premier League. Granit Xhaka leads them out as captain.
