Duchy to redirect £1.5m Dartmoor Prison rent to Princetown area

The Duchy of Cornwall said £1.5 million a year in rent for Dartmoor Prison will be redirected to support Princetown and the surrounding area on Dartmoor. The Duchy, the private estate that funds the heir's official life, receives the rent as landowner. The payment is identified as local support, not a new grant from taxation.
