Final Fantasy 7 Revelation director cites The Witcher 3 inspiration

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation game director Naoki Hamaguchi said he frequently revisited The Witcher 3 for inspiration when starting work on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series. He told GameSpot in an interview published 15 September 2026 the team studied how The Witcher 3 and Horizon's mechanics delivered cinematic pay-offs without relying on cutscenes, the non-playable film-like sequences.
