HBO Max signs French animation and documentary funding deals

HBO Max has signed agreements with French guilds including SACD, AnimFrance and SPI to fund animation and documentaries, Variety reported. The deals apply France's sub-quotas, meaning fixed shares inside streamers' wider investment obligation. Sums will be set from 2026 and 2027 revenue. Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+ are challenging the quotas before the Conseil d'Etat.
