Pogacar to miss Worlds after Vuelta crash, new champion guaranteed

Tadej Pogacar will miss the Road World Championships in Montreal after multiple injuries in a Vuelta a Espana crash. The Slovenian won the men's road race — the mass-start event for the rainbow jersey — in 2024 and 2025. His absence guarantees a new world champion on 27 September. He will miss the rest of the season.
