The Register of British Slave Traders names more than 1,100 women who bought, sold and brokered shares in slave-trading companies, the Guardian reported on 15 September 2026. The three-year project lists 13,000 investors in total. It records women across the Royal African Company, which trafficked about 150,000 enslaved people, the South Sea Company and other ventures.
