Nairobi to host 2029 World Championships, a first for Africa

Nairobi will host the 2029 World Athletics Championships, confirmed at a World Athletics council meeting in Budapest. It is the first time an African city has staged the event. Beijing hosts in 2027, Munich follows in 2031. Kenya finished second in the 2025 medal table with seven golds.
