Carrie star had not seen 1976 film before casting

Summer H. Howell plays Carrie White in Prime Video's Carrie from creator Mike Flanagan without having seen the 1976 film, she told Deadline's TIFF studio. She asked about reading the book or researching and he said 'No'. Both agreed it let her build her own version. She has since watched the film with Flanagan.
