Jack Thorne alleges TV writers passing off AI scripts as own work

Deadline reported on 14 September 2026 that Adolescence co-writer Jack Thorne alleged some television writers submit AI-generated scripts as their own work. Thorne, president of the Writers' Guild of Great Britain, spoke in Authorship in the Age of AI at London's Southbank Centre. He said typing prompts instead of writing cheats employers and fellow writers.
