State housing agency Homes NSW spent $1,797 on flights for Mark Hudson, 53, from Wagga Wagga via Sydney to Auckland, instead of temporary housing during a riverside camp clearance. Hudson says he holds Australian permanent residency. The Auckland leg was cancelled. After Guardian Australia asked questions, he was offered housing. What happens to others cleared remains unclear.
