69% of Asia Pacific Screen Awards nominees are first- or second-time directors

The Asia Pacific Screen Academy reports that 69% of nominated directors at the 19th Asia Pacific Screen Awards are presenting their first or second feature, with every best youth film nominee helmed by a first-time director. Every best animated film contender also comes from a first- or second-time filmmaker. The 36-film slate spans 32 countries; the ceremony is set for 30 October on the Gold Coast.
